Why HYS

why should you choose HYS Yoga?

(1) We cover all aspects of Yoga
We put the utmost importance on providing a quality teacher training experience for our students. Our goal is to make you a competent yoga teacher by giving you an understanding of all aspects of the ancient yoga traditions. You’ll learn the ancient techniques to purify and detoxify your body, understand your dietary needs with our individual Ayurvedic nutrition consultations, and adhere to a yoga lifestyle by following the rhythms of nature and waking up to start the day with 6am sun salutations. With this solid basis in yoga tradition, your body and mind will be better prepared for our rigorous daily practice of asanas (Hatha postures), Pranayamas (breathing techniques to control and calm your mind), and meditation.

(2) Our course is practical Yoga, not theoretical
At HYS we strongly believe that yoga is not just theoretical knowledge, but rather practical wisdom. Everything we teach in our classes is shared in a simple manner that you can easily apply to your day to day life. Instead of simply lecturing, our teachers demonstrate how you can use yoga knowledge practically. You’ll have practice sessions every day in the presence of the teachers, so that all movements, alignements and other difficulties can be corrected immediately.

(3) We preserve the tradition of Yoga.
One of our principles is to continue the uninterrupted flow of thousands of years of Yoga traditions. In our teaching, we strongly abide by the classical vision of yoga clearly described in the great works on yoga: the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and old scriptures of Hatha yoga – Gheranda Samhita, Shiv Samhita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Our deep commitment towards the great works of the past does not contradict with the modern approach to yoga. On the contrary, we highly honor modern authors, researchers, scholars, and masters like H.H.Swami Sivananda Saraswati and H.H.Swami Satyananda Saraswati who continue to further the understanding of traditional Hatha yoga. We even encourage our students to be creative in their practice of yoga as long as the correct understandings of its genuine goals are preserved.
